Urgent transmission cable fault works: Roe St, Northbridge

From Monday 11 August to Sunday 7 September 2025, we will be carrying out urgent essential work to repair a cable fault along Roe Street in Northbridge. To undertake this work safely, Roe Street between Fitzgerald and Melbourne Streets will be closed to vehicles in both directions.

The road closures will be in place from 7:00am on Monday 11 August 2025.

What to expect

The main works are taking place at 146 Roe Street, Northbridge
Roe Street will be closed to vehicles in both directions between Fitzgerald Street and Melbourne Street
Detours and signage will be in place for traffic, cyclists and pedestrians
As a minimum one side of the footpath and cycleway will be kept open
Traffic controllers will be on hand to assist residents and businesses in accessing their properties

There will be a variety of Western Power and contractor vehicles parked on Roe Street, including cranes, excavation equipment, and other construction plant and equipment.

While we are undertaking this work, Western Power will be upgrading our infrastructure to increase power supply capacity into the CBD. This will improve network resilience in advance of expected growth of housing supply and business development in the Perth CBD.

We have and continue to work with Main Roads WA, the City of Perth, and other relevant parties to coordinate and deliver the work safely while keeping disruption to a minimum.
